  Armenia to participate in key EU meeting for the first time ever March 29, 2024 - 14:32 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - National Assembly speaker Alen Simonyan has said that Armenia will for the first time participate in the Conference of Speakers of the European Union Parliaments (EUSC), set for mid-April in Spain. "Armenia has been invited for the first time. And if I am not mistaken, no [other] post-Soviet country has received such an invitation, even a candidate country does not have that invitation," Simonyan said in an interview on Public Television on Thursday, March 28. When asked whether Armenia is going to become a candidate for EU membership, Simonyan said that Armenia as well as the people and democracy of the country have long passed and share the system of the European family and democracy.
