Yerevan to host 6th meeting of Asia Initiative

PanARMENIAN.Net - Yerevan will host the 6th meeting of the Asia Initiative on June 24-25, according to statements from Armenia’s State Revenue Committee and the Asia Initiative.

Rustam Badasyan, Co-Chair of the Asia Initiative, Chairman of the State Tax Committee, will deliver remarks, followed by speeches by other local and international officials.

The first day of the meeting will feature a high-level discussion on effective exchange of information in Asia: Advancing automatic exchange of information (AEOI) and exchange of information on request (EOIR) in tandem “Asian members of the Global Forum continue to make significant progress in exchange of information for tax purposes (EOI). The political commitment to advance the tax transparency agenda is remarkable, and the enhanced use of EOIR across Asia is reflected in additional revenue identified by more jurisdictions. Their combined effortsshow a region living up to its ambitions,” the Asia Initiative said in its statement.

“In this session, the high-level panellists will discuss the steps the region has taken towardsimproved implementation and use of EOI, highlighting the crucial importance of early and sustained political commitments, successful implementation of the AEOI and EOIR standards, and the synergies between both to bolster the fight against tax evasion and other illicit financial flows. The panellists will exchange views on the importance to pursue the collective efforts to increase new members uptake, so they can reap the benefits of EOI, and contribute to an enhanced regional co-operation. The panellists will highlight the findings of the report and reflect on their own experiences.”
