GAIFF: Tarsem Singh to preside over Regional Competition jury

PanARMENIAN.Net - The of the 21st Golden Apricot International Film Festival will be presided over by Indian-American director Tarsem Singh, who is perhaps best known to Armenian audiences as the author behind Lady Gaga’s 911 music video, inspired by the aesthetics of Sergei Parajanov.

Singh’s directorial treatment is also responsible for giving visual flesh and bone to R.E.M.’s Losing My Religion, Be My Baby by Vanessa Paradis, Lou Reed’s What’s Good and many more․

The year 2000 marked the release of the director’s debut feature “The Cell” with Jennifer Lopez in the leading role, a cult science-fiction thriller, which gained praise for its distinct symbolic visual style․

Since then, Singh has made 5 more features, the most recent of which is the drama “Dear Jassi” that had its international premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2023, eventually receiving the Platform Prize, and will have its Yerevan Premiere within Golden Apricot 2024.
