U.S. “very clear” with Azerbaijan: “It’s time to make peace with Armenia”

PanARMENIAN.Net - U.S. Assistant Secretary of State James O'Brien has said that the United States is “very clear” with Azerbaijani that it is a time to make peace with Armenia.

O'Brien made the remarks at a Senate committee ahead of his trip to Azerbaijan on June 27.

"We are very clear with [Azerbaijani President Ilham] Aliyev that this is a time to make peace," O'Brien said.

According to a statement from the Department of State, O’Brien will travel to Baku, Azerbaijan, where he will meet with senior Azerbaijani government officials, including Aliyev and Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, to highlight U.S. support toward the conclusion of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Assistant Secretary O’Brien will also meet with members of civil society to reiterate the urgency of Azerbaijan adhering to its international human rights commitments.
