Armenia, France sign defense cooperation program for 2025

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia and France have signed the defense cooperation program for 2025, agreeing to set a higher bar for defense cooperation between the two countries.

On December 10, Armenia-France strategic defense consultations were held at the Armenian Ministry of Defense, headed by Levon Ayvazyan, Head of the Defense Policy and International Cooperation Department of the Ministry, and Alexandre Escorcia, Assistant Defence Policy Director at the French Ministry of the Armed Forces.

According to a statement from the Armenian side, during the consultations, work carried out as part of cooperation between the two countries in 2024 was summarized and the programs for the next year were outlined. The parties confirmed the strategic importance of the recent active cooperation and set a higher bar for the development of partnership between the two countries. Particular importance was attached to cooperation in defense planning, military education and exercises, advisory support, training of various types of forces, military-technical and other areas.

The delegation led by Escorcia also met with the First Deputy Minister of Defense of Armenia, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Edward Asryan.

The priorities of the transformation process of the Armenian Armed Forces and the progress of cooperation with France within this framework were discussed. Asryan expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation and expressed hope that it will continue to develop, the statement said.

During the consultations, the parties also exchanged views on issues related to regional and international security.

As a result of the consultations, the Armenia-France defense cooperation program for 2025 was signed, which includes several dozen measures in almost all areas of the Armed Forces' vital activities.
