RA Parliament discusses customs cooperation agreement with U.S.

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s National Assembly discussed the ratification of a customs cooperation agreement between Armenia and the United States, signed on June 11, 2024. The agreement seeks to foster collaboration between the customs services of the two countries through data exchange and mutual administrative support.

Rafael Gevorgyan, Deputy Chair of the State Revenue Committee, highlighted that the agreement includes provisions to regulate data exchange between the respective bodies.

“This is an important step toward advancing transparency and cooperation,” he stated.

The agreement aims to simplify and clarify cooperation mechanisms.

During the discussion, MP Sergey Bagratyan inquired whether the agreement conflicts with the Eurasian Economic Union’s customs regulations. Gevorgyan assured that it aligns with both EAEU laws and Armenia’s international obligations.

The Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Assembly issued a positive conclusion on the agreement.
