PanARMENIAN.Net - Director Sean Baker’s film “Anora”, starring Armenian actors Karen Karagulian and Vache Tovmasyan, is vying for the Best Picture award at the Oscars.

The film is also nominated in several other categories, including Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Original Screenplay.

For the Best Picture title, Anora will compete against "The Brutalist," "Complete Unknown," "The Conclave," "Dune: Part Two," "Emilia Perez," "I’m Still Here," "Nickel Boys," "Substance," and "The Evil," according to BBC.

The list of nominees was supposed to be announced last week but was delayed due to wildfires in Los Angeles.

The 97th Academy Awards will take place on March 3, hosted by Conan O’Brien.

"Anora" previously won the Palme d'Or at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
