Former Armenian prosecutor starts construction business in Russia![]() January 27, 2025 - 17:12 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Gevorg Kostanyan, former Prosecutor General of Armenia and wanted since 2019, has acquired Russian citizenship and been registered in Moscow since 2022, Hetq reports. In 2019, Kostanyan and his associate Hayk Grigoryan founded Blagostroy Service LLC in Khimki, Moscow Region. Initially registered for plastering and other construction activities, the company was fully transferred to Dmitry Mikhalev in October 2024, following Kostanyan's withdrawal as its sole owner. However, the company reportedly conducted no actual operations. After serving as Prosecutor General, Kostanyan was a Republican Party MP from 2017 to 2019. In September 2019, the Special Investigative Service (now the Anti-Corruption Committee) summoned him in connection with the March 1 case. While Kostanyan claimed he was abroad and intended to return within 15–20 days, he failed to comply when charged as a defendant in November, citing his teaching contract at Russia’s Prosecutorial University in Moscow. As a result, an arrest warrant was issued, and Kostanyan was placed on the wanted list. He faces charges of falsifying official documents and inciting serious crimes. In January 2023, additional civil lawsuits were filed against him for asset confiscation. The Prosecutor General’s Office demands the seizure of real estate valued at approximately 363 million drams, alongside other sums considered illicit gains. He is registered at Namyotkin 18 in Moscow, a building constructed by Samvel Karapetyan’s Tashir Group. ![]() ![]() The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, have arrived in Washington.
