Genesis Armenia: Pashinyan’s remarks threaten Genocide recognition![]() January 27, 2025 - 19:03 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Genesis Armenia Foundation has criticized Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, stating that his remarks in Switzerland undermine the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide. According to the foundation, these statements lack both scientific and logical basis, threatening the Armenian people’s historical heritage and discrediting one of the most significant events in global history. They described Pashinyan’s remarks as “one of the most ignorant and degrading actions against the Armenian people’s political struggle,” emphasizing that they harm not only the Armenian nation’s pursuit of justice but also values cherished by the civilized world. The foundation warned that such comments weaken the legal and security foundations of Armenian statehood and jeopardize the principles of genocide recognition within international law. It also accused Pashinyan of failing to explicitly condemn the Ottoman Empire and the Republic of Turkey for committing genocide, labeling this as a clear manifestation of revisionism. The statement alleged that Pashinyan’s actions aim to rewrite historical facts to absolve the Ottoman Empire and its successor, Turkey, of responsibility for the genocide. Genesis Armenia called this behavior a betrayal of the memory of the victims and the values of human civilization. The foundation noted that Pashinyan’s remarks were made in Switzerland, a country that sentenced Doğu Perinçek in 2006 for denying the Armenian Genocide. It also criticized the silence of some circles within the Swiss Armenian community, pointing out that only a few organizations and individuals actively pursue the restoration of Armenian rights and justice. Genesis Armenia emphasized that denying or forgetting genocide constitutes an immoral historical falsification and a crime. The foundation reaffirmed its commitment to continuing the struggle for national interests, historical truth, and justice. During a meeting with the Armenian community in Switzerland, Pashinyan stated that it is essential to understand “what happened and why” regarding the Armenian Genocide. His comments have also been condemned by the Union of Armenians in Russia. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult.
