U.S. hosts cultural event honoring Sergei Parajanov![]() February 1, 2025 - 14:16 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Embassy of Armenia in the U.S., in collaboration with Things to do DC, organized a cultural evening dedicated to renowned filmmaker Sergei Parajanov, whose name is listed in UNESCO’s 2024-2025 anniversaries calendar of eminent personalities and significant events. At the opening, Ambassador Lilit Makunts highlighted Armenia’s rich cultural heritage, renowned Armenian artists, and particularly the significance of Parajanov’s artistic legacy, the Embassy reported. Linguist and Associate Professor Alvard Semirjyan presented Parajanov’s work and creative vision through excerpts from his film The Color of Pomegranates. The evening concluded with a performance by pianist Naira Babayan, featuring works by Komitas, Arno Babajanyan, and Aram Khachaturian. ![]() ![]() Ara Aivazian said Azerbaijan continues the traditions of Turkey after seizing territories and forced Armenians out. The creative crew of the Public TV had chosen 13-year-old Malena as a participant of this year's contest.
