  Jalal Harutyunyan sentenced to 5.5 years in prison February 7, 2025 - 18:29 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Syunik Regional Court of General Jurisdiction has announced the verdict for Jalal Harutyunyan, the former commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, sentencing him to 5 years and 6 months in prison. The prosecution has confirmed this information, Lurer reported. The public prosecutor had initially requested a 6-year prison sentence for Harutyunyan. The prosecution stated that it would consider filing an appeal upon receiving the court's ruling. Harutyunyan was found guilty of negligence in service during the 44-day war, specifically on October 12, 2020, during the period of martial law. His failure to properly perform his duties resulted in significant losses: 20 servicemen of the D-20 artillery division of the Tsor military unit were killed, and one soldier remains missing to this day.
