Yerevan hosts Indian film festival

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Indian Film Festival has kicked off in Yerevan, marking the 100th birthday anniversary of Raj Kapoor, a legendary figure in Indian and world cinema. The event was attended by Nilakshi Saha Sinha, India's Ambassador to Armenia.

Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Arthur Martirosyan emphasized that hosting Indian cinema days in Armenia has become a cherished tradition.

"Raj Kapoor left a remarkable cinematic legacy, capturing the spirit of his era. His art is defined by humanism, and his characters reflect the stories, pains, joys, and hopes of ordinary people. His films add a unique color to India's cultural mosaic while enriching global cinema.

His work continues to touch hearts, and his ideals remain a guiding light for many. Even today, audiences watch his films with love, proving that cinema is a powerful tool for spreading universal ideas and educating people," Martirosyan stated.

He expressed hope that the festival would also serve as a platform to strengthen collaboration between filmmakers from both countries and lead to joint productions.

As part of the festival, a photo exhibition dedicated to Raj Kapoor's career and contributions was also held.
