Armenia hosts EU delegation for visa policy evaluation![]() February 11, 2025 - 17:59 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - As part of the European Union's visa liberalization action plan, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan welcomed the first EU expert mission to Armenia. The EU experts will conduct assessments from February 10 to 14 to evaluate Armenia's current situation and existing challenges. Their work will contribute to setting relevant benchmarks essential for the visa liberalization process. The deputy minister provided a detailed overview of key aspects of the visa liberalization process. The discussions covered migration trends, the introduction of new biometric documents, citizenship issues, migration and asylum management mechanisms, and ongoing efforts toward digitalization. Armen Ghazaryan also outlined the wide-ranging reforms underway at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, emphasizing the significant progress made in cooperation with the EU in the fields of migration, citizenship, and law enforcement. Comprehensive responses were provided to all questions raised by the EU experts during the meeting. The meeting was attended by representatives from Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs, the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, the European External Action Service, FRONTEX, and the EU Delegation. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
