Civil platform calls to accelerate EU accession process

PanARMENIAN.Net - The EU-Armenia Civil Society Platform has welcomed the Armenian Parliament’s adoption of the law on launching Armenia’s EU accession process on February 12 and has urged the government to establish an interagency commission on EU accession issues.

According to the platform, the adoption of this law marks a new chapter in EU-Armenia cooperation.

The platform has also called on the European Union to support Armenia’s government, opposition, and civil society in the accession process by providing innovative approaches and expert assistance.

The platform has urged the Armenian government to:

-Establish an interagency commission on Armenia’s EU accession, chaired by the Prime Minister.

-Form a working group under the commission, including representatives from the EU-Armenia Civil Society Platform, and jointly develop an accession roadmap with EU partners in a short timeframe.

-Swiftly complete Armenia’s commitments to the European Union.

The statement emphasizes that the EU-Armenia Civil Society Platform is ready to provide advisory, monitoring, and awareness-raising support to ensure the process’s effectiveness.
