Prosecutor’s Office files 136 lawsuits to seize illegal assets

The Anti-Corruption Court has received 136 lawsuits regarding the confiscation of illegally acquired property, seeking to seize 1381 real estate properties, 270 movable assets, stakes in 359 legal entities, and 527 billion AMD in assets, Armenia’s Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan stated during a government session.

She noted that the total claim amount is approximately 600 billion AMD, and this number is expected to rise as market valuations of all properties are still being calculated, Armenpress reports.

According to her, the Unified Account for Recovered Funds was created by a December 5, 2024, government decision. Since its launch, around 10.283 billion AMD has been deposited into the account.

Vardapetyan added that under a government decision, investigative bodies must provide the Prosecutor’s Office with data on seized assets from criminal cases by the 10th of the month following each half-year period. These summaries are ongoing, and by July 30, 2025, the Prosecutor’s Office will publish updated information on the assets frozen within criminal proceedings.

Discussing assets returned to local communities, she noted that in Ararat Province alone, prosecutorial interventions in 2024 led to the recovery of $900,000 in damages to the state and communities.
