European Parliament member and co-chair of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Partnership Committee, Nils Ušakovs, speaking at the committee’s fourth session in Yerevan, urged Turkey not to link border issues with the Armenia-Azerbaijan agenda.
He noted that the European Union is closely following Armenia's "Crossroads of Peace" initiative, which is crucial for enhancing regional connectivity and communication, as reported by 1lurer.am .
Ušakovs emphasized the importance of Armenia's right to make independent choices regarding its European future.
"It is also crucial for Armenia to have the freedom to choose its European future, which includes economic diversification. This is why we focus on ensuring open transport and communication links," he stated.
He also reaffirmed the EU’s support for these processes while urging Turkey to separate border issues from Armenia-Azerbaijan relations.
"We fully support this and, of course, call on Ankara to delink border issues from the Armenia-Azerbaijan agenda," the EU lawmaker stressed.
Ušakovs emphasized that Armenia has chosen the path of peace, while Azerbaijan's stance remains difficult to interpret or justify.
