MP Tigran Abrahamyan, secretary of the "I Have Honor" faction in Armenia’s National Assembly, commented on the ongoing trials in Baku, highlighting that former Artsakh President Bako Sahakyan once again emphasized that, both during the preliminary investigation and now, he remains convinced that the Karabakh issue cannot be treated as a criminal or judicial matter. Abrahamyan wrote this in a Facebook post.
"To put it simply, the president is stating that, based on the relevant article of the USSR Constitution and the principles enshrined in the UN Charter, the Artsakh movement that began in 1988 and the pursuit of self-determination were the legal rights of the people of Artsakh.
Bako Sahakyan, rejecting the charges against him, insisted in court that neither he nor the other compatriots prosecuted under this article have committed any illegal or criminally punishable acts," Abrahamyan stated.
Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement reaffirming its ongoing efforts to draw international attention to the release of Armenian prisoners of war, hostages, and detainees in Azerbaijan, as well as to the staged trials against some of them, which are marked by severe procedural violations and signs of torture.
