Armenian politician vows hunger strike until Vardanyan ends his

Mesrop Arakelyan, co-founder of the Country to Live party, announced that his fellow co-founder, Mane Tandilyan, intends to continue her hunger strike until Ruben Vardanyan ends his in Baku.

According to Arakelyan, they hope this action will persuade Vardanyan to stop his hunger strike, Factor.am reports.

Mane Tandilyan began her hunger strike on March 1 at Freedom Square, calling on Ruben Vardanyan to end his strike. On March 3, her health deteriorated, requiring medical assistance.

Former Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan has been on a hunger strike for over 15 days while being held in a Baku prison.

The Armenian Foreign Ministry issued a statement, emphasizing its ongoing efforts to draw international attention to the issue of Armenian prisoners of war, hostages, and other detainees in Azerbaijan. It also condemned the staged trials against some detainees, which involve gross procedural violations and visible signs of torture.

Human rights defender Siranush Sahakyan stated that photos of former Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan reveal visible injuries on his body. Vardanyan has been on a hunger strike for a week. During his last court session, his condition deteriorated sharply, and photos taken during the hearing showed facial injuries. Despite this, the court forced him to attend the session. His international lawyer recently detailed his health condition, warning that his life is at serious risk.
