No major air pollution issues, says Deputy Prime Minister![]() March 5, 2025 - 18:54 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan has highlighted that the current number of sensors for monitoring air pollution in Armenia, particularly in Yerevan, is insufficient. This inadequacy may lead to incomplete or exaggerated assessments. According to Grigoryan, evaluations indicate that there are local issues with air pollution in specific areas. However, the overall situation does not correlate with the public alarm. He stated, "If we look at the bigger picture—what is averaged—there is no extreme problem." The Deputy Prime Minister urged citizens to remain calm, assuring that there is nothing concerning in the broader context at this time. He explained that the primary cause of public concern is the placement of sensors in construction sites or areas where the issue is acute. The data from these sensors, when averaged, present a problematic picture. However, he noted that this is not entirely accurate compared to public evaluations. According to current standards, to have an averaged assessment of the overall picture, sensors should also be installed in areas without construction or harmful activities. Grigoryan mentioned that two issues are currently being addressed: improving the functions of inspection bodies to ensure their effectiveness, and resolving the technical equipment problem. This includes proper mapping to ensure accurate averaged assessments and evaluations. He concluded that current assessments show air pollution problems in specific locations, but these do not reflect the overall situation, which is not a cause for concern. "If we look at the bigger picture—what is averaged—there is no extreme problem," he reiterated, urging citizens not to worry as the general situation does not pose a serious threat. ![]() ![]() As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed.
