Aurora nominee plans to travel to Baku for Vardanyan's trial

Pakistani human rights activist Saeeda Ghulam Fatima, a 2016 finalist for the Aurora Prize, has decided to travel to Baku to attend the trial of former Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan. The announcement was made on the X page of the Free Armenian Prisoners organization.

The activist emphasized that real change requires action.

"It is easy to condemn injustice from afar, but real change requires action. That is why I have decided to travel to Baku and attend Ruben Vardanyan’s court hearings. Please join me in showing solidarity in any way you can," Fatima wrote.

Former Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan, currently imprisoned in Baku on politically motivated charges, recently sent an audio message through his family. He stressed that he has always acted according to his moral principles and has never betrayed them, even in the most difficult moments.

"I was fully aware of what I was getting into, and I was prepared—even for worse conditions. I am not a victim, and I do not seek pity, as this was a conscious decision," Vardanyan stated.
