Armenia reviews peace treaty draft, addresses legal disputes![]() March 12, 2025 - 18:32 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia has expressed its stance on the 12th revision of the peace treaty proposed by Baku. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan confirmed this, as reported by RFE/RL. When asked whether Armenia is willing to withdraw international legal claims before signing the peace treaty, Mirzoyan responded: "Several issues are being discussed within the framework of the peace treaty text. Therefore, if agreed upon, they can and must be implemented after the treaty is signed and comes into force. Yes, we are also discussing the exclusion of third-party forces from the Armenia-Azerbaijan interstate border, the withdrawal of international legal disputes, claims, and complaints against each other. If these points are agreed upon, signed, and come into force, they—like all other provisions—will be subject to mandatory implementation." According to him, discussions with the Azerbaijani side will continue in the near future regarding the treaty’s finalization, signing, and ratification. "Our approach aligns with Armenia’s current challenges, our peace agenda, our commitment to establishing peace, and Armenia’s interests," Mirzoyan stated. *The Armenian side received the 12th revision of the peace treaty at the end of February. Earlier reports indicated that two key issues remain unresolved: the withdrawal of legal claims against each other and the exclusion of third-country forces from the border. Additionally, Azerbaijan demands changes to Armenia’s Constitution, citing concerns over references in its preamble to the Declaration of Independence, which mentions the unification of Artsakh and Armenia.* ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. ![]() ![]() Partner news | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
