Macron welcomes conclusion of Armenia-Azerbaijan peace talks

PanARMENIAN.Net - French President Emmanuel Macron has welcomed the completion of negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the draft text of the Peace Agreement.

"I welcome the announcement of the conclusion of negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Now, nothing stands in the way of signing the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which should pave the way for lasting peace in the South Caucasus," emphasized President Macron, Factor.am reports.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has accused the French President of supporting the increase of Armenia's military potential, thereby provoking it into a new war. He made these remarks at the opening of the XII Global Baku Forum, according to Minval.az .

"It is undeniable that they are increasing their military potential. What does this indicate? It shows that they are preparing for a new war. And who is pushing them to war again? France and its President. The lethal weapons they supply to Armenia are directed against us. The CAESAR howitzers, which might be needed elsewhere today, are being sent to Armenia," noted the president.

The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that it has accepted the Azerbaijani side's proposals regarding the two previously unagreed articles and that the Peace Agreement is ready for signing. It is noted that Armenia is ready to start consultations on the timing and venue of the signing of the agreement.

The draft Peace Agreement consists of 17 points, of which 15 had been previously agreed upon. One of the unagreed points was the mutual renunciation of international-level claims against each other, and the other was the non-deployment of representatives of other countries on the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
