Former Armenian Human Rights Defender and head of the Tatoyan Foundation, Arman Tatoyan, responded to statements about Armenia dropping international lawsuits against Azerbaijan, writing on Facebook that the claim that Baku is also withdrawing complaints is false.
Tatoyan pointed out that Azerbaijan, through its "legal proceedings," has calculated that Armenia has allegedly caused over $11 billion in material "damages."
"While the ruling party's leader is engaged in withdrawing Armenia's international complaints against Azerbaijan and trying to justify this illegal decision, Azerbaijan has, through its 'legal proceedings,' calculated that the material 'damages' allegedly caused by Armenia exceed $11 billion. This includes the 'damages' they have assessed for tens of thousands of property units and hundreds of settlements.
This fact alone proves that the claim that Azerbaijan is also withdrawing international complaints or demands does not reflect reality," Tatoyan stated.
The Armenian Foreign Ministry announced that it has accepted Azerbaijan’s proposals on two previously unresolved articles and that the peace treaty is ready for signing. Armenia has expressed readiness to start consultations on the timing and location of the signing. However, Baku has introduced new preconditions and stated that it is too early to discuss meeting dates. The draft peace agreement consists of 17 articles, with 15 previously agreed upon. The unresolved issues included renouncing mutual international claims and refraining from deploying representatives of other countries along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.
