Trump plans to talk with Putin on Ukraine war March 18

PanARMENIAN.Net - U.S. President Donald Trump has announced his intention to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, March 18, aiming to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine following what he described as productive discussions between U.S. and Russian officials in Moscow.

"I'll be speaking to President Putin on Tuesday. A lot of work's been done over the weekend," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One during a late-night flight back to Washington from Florida. "We want to see if we can bring that war to an end. Maybe we can, maybe we can't, but I think we have a very good chance," he added.

Trump is seeking to secure Putin's backing for a 30-day ceasefire proposal that Ukraine agreed to last week. However, heavy aerial bombardments from both sides persisted over the weekend, while Russian forces made significant advances in pushing Ukrainian troops out of their long-held positions in the Kursk region.

When questioned about potential compromises under discussion in the ceasefire talks, Trump responded: "We'll be talking about land. We'll be talking about power plants." He further elaborated, stating, "I think we have a lot of it already discussed very much by both sides, Ukraine and Russia. We're already talking about that, dividing up certain assets."
