Forward Hrant-Leon Ranos, responding to head coach John van't Schip's decision to exclude him from the Armenian national team, wrote on his Facebook page that those who know him understand that "playing for Armenia is the greatest honor possible" for him.
Ranos emphasized that, while respecting the confidentiality of his conversation with the coach, he wanted to explain the situation and express his readiness to support the national team.
"I wanted to speak about my situation. I wanted to inform him that I’m ready, feeling good, and fully motivated to play and help the team.
To my surprise, the coach told me he had no plans for me in the upcoming match. Naturally, this upset me deeply, as playing time is crucial for me right now, and I saw no chance of getting it. We mutually agreed I would return to Kaiserslautern to prepare for the next game," he wrote.
He reaffirmed that nothing is more important to him than playing for Armenia, and that this sentiment will never change.
In the UEFA Nations League promotion playoff, Armenia’s national team lost 0–3 to Georgia in Yerevan, and 1–6 in the return leg in Tbilisi. Armenia’s only goal came from Edgar Sevikyan in the second half. As a result, Armenia remains in League C, while Georgia moves up to League B.
