Former defender of the Armenian national team, Robert Arzumanyan, discussed the development of Georgian football on his Facebook page, noting that 10-12 years ago, Georgian football was in a deep crisis.
He highlighted Levan Kobiashvili's work as the president of the Football Federation of Georgia.
"In October 2025, it will be exactly 10 years since Levan Kobiashvili became the president of the Football Federation of Georgia. Just 10-12 years ago, Georgian football was in deep crisis. At that time, experts unanimously confirmed that the Armenian national team was ahead in terms of development. Now, the picture is completely different. Over the decade, Kobiashvili's team, with serious state support, has carried out radical reforms and completely transformed Georgian football.
I had written in detail about how this was accomplished even before the Georgian national team qualified for Euro 2024 and created a real sensation there. Now, I want to congratulate Levan Kobiashvili and his team for the outstanding work they have done over the past 10 years. The Georgian national team's performance is just the tip of the iceberg of these vast changes, and the cherry on top of the cake."
The Armenian national team lost 0-3 to Georgia in the UEFA Nations League transitional playoff match in Yerevan, and in the return match in Tbilisi, lost 1-6. Armenia's only goal was scored by Edgar Sevikyan in the second half. With this result, Armenia remained in the C division, while Georgia moved to the B division.
