Mirzoyan says no clarity on Armenia-Azerbaijan peace deal signing yet

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has stated that official Yerevan has proposed starting consultations with Baku to clarify the location, time, and other logistical details of the peace agreement signing.

Speaking to Aysor.am , Mirzoyan noted that “at this point, there is no understanding of where and when the agreement will be signed.”

“We have not yet heard the same readiness from official Baku. Alongside agreeing on the peace agreement’s text and after that, Azerbaijan has started introducing certain new preconditions. We need to continue working, negotiating, and finding mutually acceptable solutions—ones that ensure a dignified and lasting peace. At this moment, there is no clarity on the venue or timing of the signing. We are ready to engage in this process as soon as possible and sign the agreement,” Mirzoyan emphasized.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated multiple times that the draft peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan has already been agreed upon and awaits final signature. He has proposed initiating consultations with the Azerbaijani President to arrange the signing.

On March 13, Armenia’s Foreign Ministry announced it had accepted Azerbaijan’s proposals regarding two previously unresolved articles and that the peace agreement is ready for signing. It also reiterated Armenia’s readiness to begin consultations over the signing’s timing and location. Meanwhile, Baku has introduced new preconditions and declared it is too early to discuss dates for a meeting.
