MP: authorities delay peace talks to meet Baku's demands![]() March 25, 2025 - 19:17 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Tigran Abrahamyan, secretary of the "I Have Honor" faction, stated in the National Assembly that the authorities have promised to negotiate peace but are actually buying time to fulfill Azerbaijan's imposed demands, which have increasingly rendered Armenia and its citizens more vulnerable. He also noted that Azerbaijan is not signing the negotiated document with Armenia because, due to the Armenian ruling force's defeatist policies, its political appetite has significantly increased, reports Aysor.am. "Currently, Azerbaijan is re-editing the next batch of demands presented to Armenia and, to demonstrate the seriousness of its actions, is also provoking tension on the front line. By escalating tension at the border, Azerbaijan is addressing the following issues: first, it threatens that Armenia's failure to meet its new preconditions will increase tension on the front line, leading to various manifestations of provocation and aggression; second, by employing terrorist tools against border settlements, it seeks to exert influence on Armenian society; third, having not yet digested the consequences of the 44-day war, the aggression against Armenia, and the policy of occupation, Azerbaijan is attempting psychological attacks on the Armenian armed forces," he said. In his opinion, the situation has become more uncertain and dangerous. "First, the Armenian authorities refuse to ensure publicity even regarding the negotiated and signable document, exacerbating public expectations that another capitulation is being prepared for Armenia; second, the Armenian authorities conceal the objective situation on the front line and do not provide the public with any significant information about the backstage communications. The authorities' concerns are, of course, understandable: it is complex and dangerous to tell the public the reality, which has been distorted and presented with completely different nuances for years," the deputy said. Abrahamyan also noted that during this period, the authorities' plea for Turkish-Azerbaijani favor had one goal: to ensure guarantees for their own security and extension of power, in exchange for which both Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the opportunity to stand on its feet, were conceded. "This is the myth of peace proclaimed by the authorities and their propaganda bubble, which bursts with a single prick of a needle," he declared. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. ![]() ![]() Partner news | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
