The Eurasian Economic Union continues to grow more economically attractive to foreign countries. Free trade zones are already active in Iran, Vietnam, and Serbia, and similar agreements may soon be signed with the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia.
Speaking on the Russia 24 TV channel, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk said that global deglobalization trends are shifting economic priorities, leading more countries to take interest in the EAEU, Vestnik Kavkaza reports.
"Today’s developments will undoubtedly boost interest in the EAEU… Currently, the EAEU includes about 190 million people, plus another 85 million in Iran and around 100–110 million in Vietnam,” said Overchuk
According to RIA Novosti, the Deputy PM noted that the union has already signed agreements to establish free trade zones with Iran, Vietnam, and Serbia. Negotiations are currently underway with several other countries that wish to broaden their export access to EAEU markets, as the union rapidly becomes a highly desirable economic partner.
Overchuk also stated that in 2025, the EAEU aims to conclude free trade zone agreements with Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates.
