Alexander Konyuk has been relieved of his duties as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Armenia. The decision was formalized through a decree signed by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, as reported by the BelTA news agency.
Konyuk had served as ambassador to Armenia since 2020.
Earlier, President Lukashenko visited Azerbaijan on a state trip, during which he, accompanied by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, traveled to the occupied territories of Nagorno-Karabakh, including Shushi. There, Lukashenko made several controversial remarks, revealing that prior to 2020, he had discussions with Aliyev about resolving the conflict through war and the challenges of post-war reconstruction. He stated that "from now on, Aliyev is the leader of the South Caucasus" and that "he should control the region."
In response, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that at least two CSTO member countries participated in preparing the 44-day war against Armenia and declared that no Armenian official would visit Belarus.
