Avetik Chalabyan, co-founder of the Hayakve initiative, told reporters at the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial that Turkey remains the same genocidal state, and any attempt to curry favor with it will only weaken Armenia’s negotiating position.
He stressed that, in his view, the current Armenian authorities aim to subject Armenia to Turkish dominance, Aysor.am reports.
“It’s obvious,” Chalabyan said.
He added that appeasing a genocidal state will not bring security.
“We are here to reaffirm our determination that the struggle continues. Turkey remains a genocidal, aggressive state, and any attempt to appease it will only weaken our negotiating position. Turkey’s current behavior confirms that unilateral efforts to improve relations with it are misguided. The process must be reciprocal—meaning Turkey must recognize and condemn the genocide,” he said.
