Lebanese President: Genocide commemoration reaffirms justice

Lebanon’s President, General Joseph Aoun, issued a statement on the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, declaring that the commemoration is not merely a remembrance of a tragic historical event, but a reaffirmation of justice, human rights, and core values of human dignity.

“It is a reminder to the world of the importance of standing against all forms of violence, extremism, and exclusion,” Aoun said, as reported by Armenpress.

President Aoun reaffirmed Lebanon’s unwavering solidarity with the Armenian people in their peaceful struggle to uphold these principles. He also praised the contributions of Lebanese citizens of Armenian descent, highlighting their longstanding and constructive role in the political, economic, cultural, and artistic life of Lebanon.

“They have always been an integral part of Lebanon’s richly woven and diverse identity,” Aoun said.

Concluding his statement, the president added: “May the victims of the Armenian Genocide, and all victims of injustice and aggression across the world, rest in peace. May God protect Lebanon and its people from all harm.”
