Mikhail Saakashvili: Tbilsi is ready to open Upper Lars check-point any time
Upper Lars check-point was closed by Russia, which is trying economical and political pressure on Armenia, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili said at a joint news conference with RA President.

"Since closing of Georgian-Russian border cargo from Armenia was passed by way of exclusion. Then the Russian part announced that the road is damaged by Georgian cargo trucks and needs repair. We've reconstructed our part, but Russia hasn't till now. So Upper Lars was remaining closed," Saakashvili said.

Georgian President emphasized that Tbilsi is ready to open Upper Lars checkpoint any time and hopes for the success of negotiations with Russia in Switzerland.

In his turn, Serzh Sargsyan noted that he hopes for soonest solution of this issue. "I believe we can hope for positive solution to this issue within shortest terms. I believe we can soon report good news to President Saakashvili, and we're doing the best we can. Upper Lars very important to Armenia, but it's also important to Georgia. I hope changes for the better are soon to be expected," RA President emphasized.
