Tigran Sargsyan promises the support of Lyus Fund to students who've entered world's leading universities.

PanARMENIAN.Net - "Lack of funding is or problem. Your task is to enter leading universities of the world and we'll find the means," RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said at a news conference with Yerevan State University students. Tigran Sargsyan assured the students that upon entering the leading universities of the world they'll be receiving the Fund's support. Luys Fund was created on private initiative under the patronage of RA President Serzh Sargsyan, who became Luys Fund Trustees' Board Chairman. The Fund aims at sponsoring Armenian and Diaspora students tuition in leading foreign universities.

According to Prime Minister, 2009 educational program budget comprises AMD 400 million. He also emphasized that in case of necessity additional means could be found. "The Fund is functioning under high patronage of RA President Serzh Sargsyan and this is the fact which obligates us to work openly and transparently," the Prime Minister said.

Besides Tigran Sargsyan, the Special Board of Lyus Fund Educational Programs includes Deputy Head of Presidential Administration Vigen Sargsyan, Deputy Central Bank President Vache Gabrielyan, Head of Ayb Educational Fund Trustees Board, archimandrite Mesrop Aramyan and RA NA MP, Heritage oppositional faction representative Anahit Bakhshyan.

Jaklin Kara-Aslanyan, who was unanimously appointed as Lyus Fund Executive Director, stated, "The last 25 years of my professional experience served as a good preparation for this important work."

According to Executive Director, Luys Fund aims at solving two main issues: to increase the number of Armenian students in world's leading universities and create a network of professionals who've studied at such universities."

In reply to dissatisfactions voiced over slow and non-transparent work of the Fund, RA Prime Minister cited the difficulty and social significance of the program as a reason.

He also emphasized that besides educational programs the Fund also covers scientific and cultural programs. Among cultural programs organized by the Fund are: the concert of a legendary British rock band Jethro Tull, and the jubilee of world-known Armenian musician Jivan Gasparyan.
