Gevorg Poghosyan wins bronze for Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian weightlifters won two medals, silver and bronze, at the World Weightlifting Championships on November 26 in Goyang, South Korea. 



Gevorg Pogosyan performed successfully in the jerk exercise: using his two attempts he lifted 208 kilograms. Armenian weightlifter won a bronze medal, and took 4th place scoring 374 kilograms.

 

Tigran V. Martirosyan won a silver medal, lifting 172kg in snatching. Back injury prevented him from using his two attempts in snatching. He couldn't perform in the jerk exercise and withdrew from the fight for medals. 



Olympic champion of 2008 Yong Lu (383kg) won the champion title.



Armenian team won 6 medals: besides Gevorg Pogosyan and Tigran V. Martirosyan, Arakel Mirzoyan (w/c 69) and Tigran G. Martirosyan (w/c 77) added medals to the Armenian team treasury.
