OTE GREEK COMPANY THINKS OF LEAVING ARMENIAN TELECOMMUNICATION MARKET

PanARMENIAN.Net - As Armenian justice minister David Harutyunyan is kept informed, OTE Greek company, the owner of 90% of «ArmenTel» shares, strives for leaving Armenian telecommunication market. At the press conference yesterday he reported that OTE leadership had made a decision to sell 20% of «ArmenTel» shares. The European bank of reconstruction and development, apparently, will acquire this part. The minister did not approve of the initiative of several deputies raising the question on necessity to pass a telecommunication amendment restricting per minute payment for city phone calls and called it too dangerous. According to him, this will result in that OTE will go to the international law and bring an action against Armenia's government. The court's verdict, according to Arutyunyan, would not be in Armenia's favor and the government would have to pay a heavy fine.
