Marco Tardelli names Ireland squad for games against Armenia and Andorra

Giovanni Trapattoni's recovery after surgery led to assistant Marco Tardelli naming the Republic of Ireland squad for the upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers.

Tardelli's squad for the 3 September and 7 September games against Armenia and Andorra contains no surprises.

Preston's Keith Treacy is retained in the 25-man squad after making his debut against Argentina.

The only changes from the squad for the Argentina game are the omissions of Marc Wilson and Caleb Folan.

The Irish face Armenia away before taking on minnows Andorra at the Aviva Stadium four days later.

Tardelli said that the Irish would go into the back-to-back games "well prepared and confident".

"We held a successful training camp in May and played a number of competitive and challenging friendly matches over the summer," added the Republic assistant.

"Playing Armenia in Yerevan will be a tough test for the team but when we return to play our first competitive home game four days later, we hope to go to Aviva stadium having made a positive start to the campaign."

Trapattoni, 71, is continuing his recuperation after undergoing surgery for a surgery for an abdominal complaint.

The Irish manager is confident that he will be fit to travel with the squad to Armenia, BBC Sport reported.
