Carl Froch: there's me and Abraham left

PanARMENIAN.Net - Carl Froch, 33, dropped the super-middleweight belt to Mikkel Kessler in his last Super Six outing.

But Kessler has been forced to withdraw from the tournament and vacate his crown — opening the door for the Cobra to redeem himself in Monaco on October 2.

"This fight with Arthur Abraham will be for the WBC title and will be a straight semi-final in the Super Six. It's good news for me," Froch said.

Nottingham slugger Froch was originally due to face Abraham in his final Super Six group stage fight.

But with Kessler unable to continue due to an eye injury, organizers Showtime decided to eliminate Allan Green, who replaced Jermain Taylor after the first round of bouts.

Froch is determined to beat Abraham to secure a place in the final against Andre Ward or current WBA champion Andre Dirrell.

"There's me and Abraham left, while Ward v Dirrell is the other semi. So in the final you'll have a WBC-WBA unification fight. After the final, Kessler's got a shot at the WBC crown. Kessler will be what they call the 'marital' WBC champion, which means that Abraham and I are fighting for my old title. It means I'll be world champion assuming I do the job properly and Kessler would get a shot at challenging for his old belt back because he vacated it. There will be an undisputed world title fight in the Super Six final, which will probably be at Madison Square Garden in New York. I've got to do the business in my next fight, or it's curtains," he said, The Sun reported.
