Zafer Yoruk: Treaty of Sevres is Turkey's nightmare

PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkish society in infected with phobias, a Turkish expert said.

“Fearing of Christianization, Turkish authorities oppress national minorities. This fear goes back to 1875, when the Ottoman Empire was on the verge of decline, with the Armenian and Greek communities appearing as the main threat. The sultan was scared that Turkey may become a Christian state. Today, we witness a similar situation. Islamists will do everything in their power to maintain their ideology,” said Zafer Yoruk, Lecturer of Media and Politics at Izmir University of Economics.

Among other phobias, he pointed out to Constantinople and Orthodox Patriarchs, who want “to divide the country”, and the Treaty of Sevres, which is a real nightmare for Turkey, although not ratified.
