Karabakh issue should be resolved in OSCE MG framework

On September 8, NKR President Bako Sahakyan met OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs Robert Bradtke (USA), Igor Popov (Russia) and Bernard Fassier (France) in Stepanakert.

A wide range of issues related to the current stage and prospects of the Karabakh conflict settlement were discussed during the meeting.

The parties characterized the military solution of the conflict as absolutely unacceptable. As Bako Sahakyan emphasized, frequent violations of the cease-fire by Azerbaijan generate concern and pose a serious threat to regional peace and stability as well as the OSCE Minsk group’s co-chairs efforts to achieve peaceful settlement of the conflict. Within this context, the NKR leader called upon the co-chairs to use their potential in order to urge Azerbaijan to return to constructive negotiations.

The parties agreed that the Artsakh issue should be settled within the frameworks of the OSCE Minsk Group, noting that any attempts by Azerbaijan to transfer the issue into other instances did not contribute to the settlement of the conflict.

NKR foreign minister Georgy Petrosyan and personal representative of the OSCE chairman-in-office Andrzej Kasprzyk were present at the talks, Central Information Department at NKR President’s Office reported.
