Javakhk Diaspora of Russia calls to boycott liturgy in Holy Cross

PanARMENIAN.Net - Javakhk Diaspora of Russia issued a statement on the occasion of the upcoming liturgy in Holy Cross Church in Akhtamar Island.

“We know that this religious ceremony is an imitation of neighborly relations with Armenia. Yielding to this provocation would mean the defeat of the Armenian diplomacy and the Armenian statehood. Playing on the religious feelings of Armenians, Turkish authorities are organizing a performance, with Armenians acting as puppets,” the statement says.

“Instead of taking real steps, Turkey organizes a show and demonstrates pseudo-tolerance. It’s not excluded that a Turkish flag will be hoisted on the dome of the church in place of the cross. We believe that Armenians must refrain from participating in this show and boycott the September 19 ceremony.”
