Heads of Armenia’s coalition parties – the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Prosperous Armenia party and Orinats Yerkir party – made a joint statement.
“We believe that there is no alternative to the international recognition of NKR recognition. The full enforcement of the NKR people’s right to self-determination is a dream and aim of all Armenians. Supporting the efforts and initiatives aimed at the international recognition of NKR, we strongly believe that NKR recognition by Armenia now does not stem from the interests, by which Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan is guided in negotiations within the OSCE Minsk Group and which are supported by the coalition as well,” the statement reads.
“Armenia has displayed for the past 18 years its interest towards the negotiation process, being confident that peace and fair settlement of the Karabakh conflict is possible only under conditions of honest and consecutive fulfillment of fundamental principles of the OSCE.”
“At the same time, we believe that NKR people’s right to self-determination and own state is the highest value, for the sake of which the RA NA is ready to take resolute steps, if the negotiation process is failed, jeopardizing the fundamental rights and security of the Karabakh people,” it reads.
Besides, heads of the coalition parities noted that if the negotiation process is failed, they are ready to initiate the process of NKR recognition and support initiatives of other political forces.
“However, at this moment the coalition states that it will not participate in the voting on the bill on NKR recognition,” the RA NA press service reported.
