BAKU MAY AGREE ON GRANTING WIDE AUTONOMY TO NAGORNO KARABAKH

PanARMENIAN.Net - YEREVAN, April 17. /Mediamax/. Baku may agree on granting wide autonomy to Nagorno Karabakh if the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan are kept, Speaker of Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Murtuz Aleskerov said today upon the end of the meeting with the Chairman of the Council of Federation of Russia, Yegor Stroyev, RIA-Novosti reports.

According to Aleskerov, "another settlement of the Karabakh conflict won't meet the agreement of the Azeri people". Azeri Speaker stressed that he speaks against "applying double standard regarding Azerbaijan". He said "there are generally accepted norms of sovereignty, territorial integrity for each state, and they must be extended to our country as well". Murtuz Aleskerov noted that if President Heydar Aliev goes to compromises to Nagorno Karabakh, this may arouse discontentment of the political forces of Azerbaijan. --0--
