Zurabyan refutes information on ANC secret talks with authorities

PanARMENIAN.Net - Coordinator of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) Levon Zurabyan said that the congress does not conduct secret negotiations with the authorities through mediation of the U.S. Ambassador to Armenia.

“No negotiations are conducted with the authorities, and I urge media to stop speculations with respect to it,” Zurabyan told a press conference in Yerevan.

He added that ANC is likely to negotiate with the authorities only “after the release of political prisoners.”

Zurabyan also commented on the dialogue launched with the authorities, saying that two demands of the opposition were met before the April 28 rally, while a statement of the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan suggested that political prisoners will be released soon.

Zurabyan noted that the public and world community would not have understood ANC, if it rejected the dialogue with the authorities due to a formal reason.
