HALO TRUST HAS DEMINED 300 HECTARES OF LAND IN NAGORNO KARABAKH IN SEPTEMBER-NOVEMBER 2000
22.12.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. "Halo Trust" field engineers have demined 300 hectares of land in Nagorno Karabakh in September-November 2000, one of the co-ordinators of NKR National Committee of International Movement for anti-infantry mines prohibition, Ashot Adamian told Mediamax.
Besides "Halo Trust", the field engineering service of NKR Defense Army and special subdivisions of the Republican Department for Emergency situations are also demining NKR territory at present, Adamian said.
"Halo Trust", which resumed its activity in Nagorno Karabakh in 2000, prepared a 24-people group, which rendered harmless 4587 military loads and mines during June-November 2000.
In early 2000 a working group on mines problem was set up at NKR government, which included members of the governmental staff, as well as employees of non-governmental organizations - "Halo Trust", the International Committee of Red Cross and NKR National Committee of International Movement for anti-infantry mines prohibition. -0-
