Android and web users of Foursquare enjoy new notification tray

Foursquare Official Blog announced about the launch of a new tray “notification” which is already available for the Android users and also at foursquare.com.

The tray notifies users when a friend comments on one of their check-ins, when there are new comments or photos on a check-in users have commented on, when friend does one of the Tips user has left, when user and a friend both have the same place on their To-Do List, when a place user is at starts swarming, when one of users’ Facebook friends joins foursquare and when users are ousted as Mayor.

Foursquare also added some more controls over these notifications. On Android phone, users should just go to settings and can flip on and off any one they want, and the same is true of settings on the web. There is a new mute button, so users can turn off notifications for an hour, or until the next morning.

The Android app update is already available for download. Foursquare said they are going to make the update of iPhone and BlackBerry Foursquare apps with notification tray as quick as possible.
