SHAMIL BASAYEV CONSIDERS THAT IRAN CARRIES OUT A PRO-ARMENIAN POLICY

PanARMENIAN.Net - 06.10.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. "Azerbaijan is entirely surrounded by enemies, and even Iran which must be your ally is carrying out a pro-Armenian policy," says Shamil Basayev, the leader of chechen mujahedins, in his letter addressed to the Azeri President Heydar Aliyev.

It worth mentioning that it is not the first time when Basayev expresses his indignation over Iran's policy towards Armenia. On June 22, 2000 he addressed with an open letter to Iran's authorities questioning: "Why do you help Armenia but not Azerbaijan which is your closest neighbor both ethnically and by its religion." --0--
