THE SECOND SESSION OF THE COMMISSION OF PARLIAMENTARY COOPERATION BETWEEN THE EUROPEAN UNION AND ARMENIA STARTS IN YEREVAN TODAY

PanARMENIAN.Net - 13.09.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The second session of the commission for parliamentary cooperation between the European Union and Armenia starts today in Yerevan.

A delegation, headed by European Parliament member, the representative of the commission for South Caucasus-European Union cooperation, Ursula Schleiher, has arrived in Yerevan to take part in the session, was reported to MEDIAMAX in the press service of the National Assembly of Armenia.

The present economic situation in Armenia, Armenia's mutual relations with neighboring countries, as well as perspectives of the Karabakh conflict settlement are to be discussed at the session in Yerevan.

The members of the commission will also discuss possibilities of giving a new quality to the cooperation between Armenia and the European Union within the framework of Partnership and Cooperation Agreement.

The chairman of the parliamentary commission for foreign affairs, Hovanes Hovanesian, Ursula Schleiher, Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian, the head of the delegation of the European Commission in Armenia Elio Jermano, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France to Armenia Michelle Legran will speak at the meeting. The speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Armen Khachatrian will greet the participants.

The first session of the commission took place in Brussels on December 6-9, 1999. -0-
