PanARMENIAN.Net - 29.08.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Vahe Gabrielian, the press secretary of the President of Armenia, refuted today in the interview to MEDIAMAX the statement of the Speaker of the Russian State Duma, Gennadi Seleznev, that official Yerevan is considering variants to join the Russia-Belarus union.

Answering the question about the future of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Mr. Seleznev stated today in the interview to Russian "Trud" paper that "Armenia already considers the variants of joining to the Russia-Belarus union".

Vahe Gabrielian reminded MEDIAMAX that President Robert Kocharian has repeatedly stated that the question of Armenia's joining to Russia-Belarus union isn't in the foreign policy agenda of the country. "There are no changes in this position", stressed Vahe Gabrielian. -0-
