Defense Minister: violence, harassment behind incidents in Armenian army

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Defense Minister cited acts of violence and harassment among servicemen as the reasons behind tragic incidents in armed forces.

However, as Seyran Ohanyan noted, while always informed about emergency events, the society remains unaware of tragedies prevented as a result of commanders’ work.

“Despite actual causes behind the incident, Army commandment doesn’t seek to avoid the responsibility, taking every effort to prevent deaths and injuries, making sure those guilty do not escape unpunished,” he stressed.

“Well aware of current issues in the army, we're working every day towards finding solutions,” the Minister stressed, noting significant decrease in emergency cases in 2011.
